It's no surprise that Prague has topped the list for a cultural city break. There are plenty of events held throughout the year attracting thousands of visitors in large numbers from inside and outside the country and the continent.

The city hosts an impressive calendar of festivals and events dedicated to history, arts, fashion, music and gastronomy… The ideal opportunity to fall in love with the very essence of Czech Republic.

Prague Spring Festival

May 12 - June 2, 2017

The city of Prague celebrates the Prague Spring International Music Festival in the month of May-June every year. It is the most famous festival which features musical events of outstanding performing artists from all around the world, a number of amazing orchestras and chamber music ensembles from different countries. The festival started in the year 1946 under the patronage of Czech President Edward Benes, and since then it has been the epitome of musical excellence. Along with the astounding performances by the music maestros, the festival also commemorates important music anniversaries and landmarks.

 

Bohemia Jazz Fest

July 8 - 23, 2017

One of the biggest jazz festivals in Europe takes place takes place during summer time in Czech Republic. The Bohemia Jazz Fest, which Downbeat magazine lists as one of the world’s most important cultural events, was founded in 2005 by acclaimed jazz guitarist Rudy Linka. Thanks to its sponsors and patrons, the Bohemia Jazz Fest has become a summer ritual with jazz fans from all over Central Europe gathering on the squares of historic Czech cities to see and hear the world’s greatest jazz performers – completely free! In addition to jazz, there will also be a thrilling blend of blues, funk and world music.

 

Karlovy Vary International Film festival

June 30 – July 8, 2017

The Karlovy Vary Film Festival is the most prestigious film festival in Central Europe and has a unique atmosphere. The first one was held in 1946 in Mariánské Lázně, a year later it was moved to Karlovy Vary and since that time it has taken place in the first half of July.

Each year the festival presents the premieres of more than 200 new films from around the world, of which the best is traditionally awarded the main prize, Crystal Globe, during the closing ceremony. The festival includes a variety of film and social celebrities, thousands of film fans, concerts, ceremonies, parties, press conferences and dozens of accompanying events.

 

Dvořák’s Prague Music Festival

September 3 – 23, 2017

The festival is mostly focused on the work of the famous Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, well known for Rusalka and New world Symphonie.

 

Summer Letna

August 19 – September 2, 2017

Letní Letná (Summer Letna) is the only Czech festival which introduce the best of the "new circus" which mix circus arts with theater poesie. Thanks to the festival, the Czech Republic i severy year hosting prominent names of the international contemporary circus scene as well.

 

Signal Festival in Prague

October 12 – 15, 2017

The SIGNAL Festival is a large cultural event in the Czech Republic. This exciting event integrates light, art and urban space across extraordinary Prague venues, such as the Dancing House, the Old Town Square, the Church of St. Ludmila, Charles Bridge, Museum Kampa, Petřín Lookout Tower or the Metronome, Střelecký Island, Klementinum and Náměstí Míru Square.

Four evenings full of visual arts and technologies to transform the public space of Prague into a gleaming gallery at night.

Prague Fashion week

September 2- 5, 2017

MBPFW is the only fashion event in the Czech Republic that has an international overlap (it is a part of the international network of fashion weeks organized under the patronage of Mercedes-Benz similar to New York, Berlin, Sydney, Moscow, Istanbul or México City).

 

Strings of Autumn Prague

Exceptional figures are again preparing for this 21st international music festival.

Every year members of the current international music scene of various genres, from classical music to jazz, crossover and old music to world music come to this Prague festival in autumn. The Strings of Autumn seeks a broad perspective to convey the immense diversity of the music world to audiences, regardless of the well-traveled ruts of certain genre.

Czech Design Week Autumn 2017

27. 11. 2017 – 3. 12. 2017

Hybernská 4 will become a big showroom for distinguished as well as young designers from the Czech Republic and abroad who will attend the Czech Design Week Autumn 2017. The selling exhibition of art and design is held for the fourth time and this edition takes place in a new trendy venue.
